Be part of Birmingham's Big Help Out! What is the Big Help Out? The Big Help Out is a nationwide weekend of volunteering and community action from Friday 7th – Sunday 9th June 2024. It aims to: Raise awareness of the benefits of volunteering for individuals, communities and good causes. Provide opportunities for people to experience volunteering and make a difference in their community. We would love to bring Birmingham together for the Big Help Out 2024 and encourage citizens to get involved in a weekend of volunteering action that supports local people, communities, services and good causes across the city. Why get involved? Volunteers If you’re a local citizen, the Big Help Out is a great opportunity to give back to your community, make a difference, meet new people and try something new, through giving a small amount of your time between June 7th – 9th 2024. There are all sorts of activities to get involved in depending on your interests, location and the time you can give. Examples include supporting events or family fun days, environmental projects, raising awareness of good causes, practical tasks, fundraising, and lots more. You get find ways to get involved on the Community Noticeboard by selecting the Big Help Out button. Organisations If you’re a local voluntary, community or faith-based organisation, the Big Help Out is an opportunity to raise awareness of your work, recruit new volunteers and involve them in innovative ways. It’s also an opportunity to be part of enacting Birmingham’s Vision for Volunteering and have a chance to: Raise awareness of volunteering and show appreciation to your volunteers through participating in a public recognition and awareness raising campaign. Collaborate and come together with organisations across Birmingham to involve volunteers to support the city's most vulnerable citizens. Celebrate difference in your volunteering programme and think about ways to involve underrepresented communities in volunteering. Information pack for volunteer-involving organisations We have also developed an information pack that gives you further details about the weekend and suggestions about how you can be part of the Big Help Out and involve volunteers. You can download it here How do I promote Big Help Out volunteering opportunities?
