Job Title: Dementia Centre Support WorkerResponsible to: Dementia Centre Support Co-ordinatorHours of Work: 36.5 per week Location: Birmingham Irish Association's Dementia CentresSalary: £23,562Key Duties and Responsibilities:1. To work with the Dementia Support Co-ordinator in the planning and development of activities2. To implement the agreed planning to ensure a diverse and meaningful range of activities at the centre3. To collect and collate activity data, including outputs and outcomes4. To write reports to support service level agreement performance returns5. To provide day to day support of dementia centre volunteers in liaison with the Volunteer Coordinator6. To ensure a healthy and balanced menu is provided at the centres7. To deliver activity programmes when required8. Ensure that service users are actively involved in the development and delivery of activities 9. To ensure that each site and its environment is maintained to a high standard and that any health and safety issues are reported immediately to the Dementia Support Co-ordinator10. Adhere to Birmingham Irish Association’s policies procedures and practices11. Attend supervision meetings, staff meetings, Birmingham Irish Association’s AGM, annual appraisal meetings and other meetings as required12. Be responsible for the health and safety of yourself and others at work13. Undertake any training and development opportunities as agreed with the appropriate manager 14. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times15. Work in a non-discriminatory manner at all times16. Carry out any other duties, which may be determined from time to time by the Management Team, in line with the aims and objectives of Birmingham Irish Association and in keeping with the purpose and grade of the jobThe successful candidate will have the following:1. Good level of written and oral communication skills2. Competence in the use if IT packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, and email)3. Good organisational skills4. Good level of planning and decision making skills5. Ability to write client records, reports and fulfil data requirements.6. Ability to maintain clear and consistent boundaries with clients.7. Ability to undertake training and maximise learning.8. Good skills in the collection and collation of data and information9. Ability to work effectively as a team player in a collaborative and supportive manner10. Commitment to promoting diversity and equalityExperience/Knowledge:1. Experience of engaging effectively with clients.2. Experience of supervising staff and volunteers3. Knowledge of the health and social care sector 4. Experience of providing group based activities in a safe and professional setting5.
