Healing Arts Birmingham (HABrum) is a week-long, city-wide event showing how arts, culture and heritage can improve health, wellbeing and social equity.

The programme brings together community activity and professional practice from across Birmingham and the West Midlands. It showcases Birmingham's creative sector while demonstrating the evidence and methods behind creative health.

HABrum is led by Birmingham City Council Creative Public Health and  Jameel Arts & Health Lab's global outreach campaign in collaboration with the World Health Organization and arts and community organsiations across Birmingham and the West Midlands. 

Healing Arts Birmingham brings together artists, practitioners, researchers, and policymakers to tackle health inequalities and embed creative practice at the heart of public life.

Activities during the week

The week will include a wide range of activities for different audiences, including:

  • community-focused performances, exhibitions and celebrations
  • research symposiums and conferences
  • poicy forums and workshops focused on creative health practice

1:30 - 4pm: Creative Health Region: Policy and Practice 
2 - 6pm: Arts, Prisons and Health Symposium  

Friday 26th June 2026
9:30 - 11:45am: National Arts in Hospitals Network at Healing Arts Birmingham 
1 - 3pm: NCCH Creativity in Neighbourhoods 
4 - 5pm Panel Talk: Young People - The Power of Creativity in Music for Health and Wellbeing 
5:30 - 6:30pm: Life Learnings of a Non-sensical Human 
6 - 8pm Healing Arts Closing Ceremony
