Insights, News and Events

BVSC Research regularly shares insights from our work, updates about current projects, and opportunities to engage with research and community learning across Birmingham.

Through our research and evaluation activity we work with organisations, communities and partners across a wide range of social issues. This page highlights some of the learning emerging from that work, as well as news, events and opportunities to get involved.

Where possible we also share publications and reports produced through our research and evaluation projects.

Project Insights

Across our work we regularly support organisations and partnerships to evaluate services, explore community experiences and develop evidence to inform decision-making.

Where appropriate, we share short summaries of this work to highlight key themes and learning.

These project snapshots provide a brief overview of:

  • the focus of the work
  • partners involved
  • the research or evaluation approach
  • key learning or insights

In some cases links to full reports or publications will also be available.

Learning and Reflections

Research and evaluation generate valuable learning that can support organisations and systems to reflect and improve.

Through short articles and blog posts we share reflections from our work, including:

  • lessons from evaluation projects
  • insights from participatory and community research
  • reflections on emerging challenges affecting the voluntary sector
  • learning from collaborative partnerships and research programmes

These articles are intended to support shared learning across the voluntary sector and the wider research community.

Events and Opportunities

BVSC Research regularly hosts or contributes to events, workshops and learning sessions connected to research, evaluation and community engagement.

    One million essential items have been distributed to families in need across the region through the West Midlands Multibank since the project was launched just over a year ago. The milestone was celebrated by BVSC, who oversee the West Midlands Multibank alongside funders Comic Relief and Sport Relief. The West Midlands Multibank receives donations from businesses such as Amazon to distribute to a network of over 200 community partners who then distribute them to families most in need.
