King's Award for Voluntary Service honours five outstanding Birmingham groups The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) is the highest recognition given to local volunteering groups in the UK. It carries the same status as an MBE, and once awarded, it lasts for life. Previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the KAVS shines a light on the very best of local voluntary groups and the difference they make in their communities. This year, 231 groups from every corner of the country have been recognised, five of which are in Birmingham. The following groups have been recognised for outstanding service in this year's Awards: Bethel Health and Healing NetworkSupporting vulnerable women with dignity, hope, and compassion to improve health and mental wellbeing. Bright Future AssociationOffering sport and mentorship to help disadvantaged young people find confidence and opportunity. Nishkam Healthcare TrustTackling health inequalities by blending faith-based values with clinical practice and partnership working. Saathi HouseProviding holistic, community-led support and activities that empower local women and young people. The ConiesHelping children and families learn, stay safe, and thrive through creative arts and storytelling. All successful groups will receive a crystal award and a certificate signed by His Majesty, presented by the Lord-Lieutenant at a local ceremony. They’ll also be invited to attend a Royal Garden Party next year. If you would like to make a nomination for the 2026 round, the process is still open, but closes on 1 December 2025.
