As part of Barrow Cadbury Trust's efforts to reduce climate impact, they have teamed up with Phil Beardmore, of Energy Confidence to support some of Birmingham’s third sector organisations to review their current environmental performance and develop strategies to mitigate the climate impact of their operations.

We have set aside funds for up to 10 bursaries in the first instance. The Trust will meet half the costs of EnergyConfidence’s initial assessment and ongoing support, up to a maximum of £1,000. To ensure our offer has maximum environmental impact, you will need to own or have substantial control over energy use in your premises (i.e. not be subletting part of a larger building where you have no control over suppliers, renovations etc.).

EnergyConfidence can help you with:

• Understanding your environmental impact 
• Developing strategies to make buildings more energy efficient 
• Working with your partner organisations and supply chain to reduce the environmental impact of these activities 
• Setting realistic targets so you can measure and report on your progress 
• Identifying and tackling organisational and cultural barriers that are holding you back from becoming a low-carbon organisation. 
Prices for a support package start at £1,000 (1 building of up to 400m2; turnover up to £1 million).  This buys you:
• An inception meeting to get to know your organisation and your progress to date on environmental issues 
• Site visit for Phil to get to know your building and organisation 
• Comprehensive report with recommendations and action plan, estimated costs and benefits, thermal imaging (depending on the season), suggested targets 
• Workshop with your leadership team to understand barriers to embedding your decarbonisation strategy within your organisation, and make decisions within a psychologically safe space 
• A follow-up Zoom meeting with questions and answers

With the Trust’s 50% subsidy, the price for an organisation of this size reduces to £500, allowing for you to continue to benefit from Phil’s ongoing support, should you need it, at a reduced cost.

Our joint investment will not only help you to prove your environmental credentials to yourselves, your team and your stakeholders, but also to make savings through reductions to your fuel bills.
