Improving Access for Black Men (IABM) are really pleased to share that our social media pages have now launched, alongside our IABM page on the BSMHFT website. We’ll be using these spaces to share updates, reflections, resources and some exciting posts over the coming weeks as the project continues to grow.  Please do follow, share and help us spread the word:

We’re also excited to be joining Unity FM’s “What Shape Are You In?” show with Beresford Dawkins for a special IABM radio series, running on the last Wednesday of each month from May to August.  The episodes are:

  • Wednesday 27 May – Why aren’t Black men accessing support?
  • Wednesday 24 June – What does mental health mean?
  • Wednesday 29 July – Racial trauma: what is the impact?
  • Wednesday 26 August – Neurodivergence, being misunderstood and invisible wounds

Staff, clients, community members and supporters are warmly encouraged to listen in and get involved by texting or phoning in during the live shows. We would love people to share reflections, questions and experiences as part of the conversation.  As we continue to mobilise the project, we are also keen to connect with groups of Black men who may benefit from us coming along to talk, deliver a workshop, attend a community event, or simply have a presence and start building relationships.

If you know of any groups, organisations, spaces or community contacts where this work may be helpful, please do get in touch. We now have a team who are really eager to get stuck into community engagement and begin making those connections in a meaningful way.,
