Kusminder Chahal is Senior Research Fellow at the School of Social Sciences at Birmingham City University. His research interests include race and racism, lived experience, hate crime, victim support and service responses, health and housing, community-based engagement and research and knowledge exchange.

He is an established equality and diversity practitioner and trained over 5500 professionals and is currently leading on Birmingham 2029 – BCU’s School of Social Sciences community-university engagement programme. Kusminder has completed various research and consultancy projects with voluntary and community organisations. He has recently completed two international projects in the USA taking a qualitative, participatory and community engagement approach.
