Coming soon! A New Space for Birmingham’s Young People Birmingham is getting ready to launch something big — the Young Futures Hub, an exciting, youth‑designed space created with young people, for young people and the Local Youth Transformation Programme. Both form the Early Adopters Programme, funded by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. This new government initiative, part of the National Youth Strategy, will help Birmingham enhance a high‑quality youth offer working collaboratively with partners across the city. What Is the Young Futures Hub?The Young Futures Hub is a flagship, inclusive youth space for ages 10–18 (and up to 25 with SEND) that brings support, creativity and opportunity together in one place.Young people can expect: A safe, welcoming place where they feel a sense of belonging. Support for mental health and wellbeing Access to youth workers and specialist services Help with careers, skills, and volunteering Space for youth‑led creativity and co‑design Birmingham is proud to be one of only eight local authorities leading this work nationally.Where Will It Be?A Two‑Phase LaunchPhase 1 – Library of Birmingham (April 2026)A fully functioning temporary Hub will open inside the Library of Birmingham, giving young people early access to support and connecting closely with the DWP Youth Hub.Phase 2 – Permanent Home on Cannon Street (Summer 2026)The Hub will then move to a brand‑new city centre base on Cannon Street, delivering high quality support and advice by youth services and partners. Why This Matters for BirminghamThe Young Futures Hub supports the city’s 0–19 transformation strategy and the Birmingham Youth Strategy, working alongside Best Start Family Hubs and the District operating model to ensure that every young person can: Access support early Feel connected Build confidence & resilience Find safe spaces and trusted adults A Partnership ApproachPartners from across Birmingham — youth providers, police, schools, mental health services, community groups and more — are already shaping the Hub’s programming, co‑delivery, outreach and launch activities. The Hub will provide: A central space for joint delivery Better coordination between services Shared areas for meetings and targeted activities Clear referral pathways The Local Youth Transformation ProgrammeThe wider LYT programme helps build a stronger, more joined‑up system for youth services. In Birmingham, this includes over 18 months capacity building the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) and developing the youth offer by: Developing a youth work service standard Funding and bid‑writing support for small VCS organisations Establishing VCS local youth partnerships in each district Launching seed funding for innovative youth work Creating a digital youth offer Key Dates to Remember April 2026: Temporary Hub opens at the Library of Birmingham Summer 2026: Permanent Hub opens on Cannon Street May onwards deliver the LYT initiatives Further updates and partner briefings will follow as we get closer to launch. For any queries or want to be involved please do feel free to contact either Soulla Yiasouma on [email protected]or Rita Chohan on [email protected] Manage Cookie Preferences
