West Midlands Multibank Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region face some of the highest levels of child poverty in the country. In Birmingham alone, over 40% of children are living in poverty. Across the region, individuals and families are experiencing hardship, with increasing pressures from rising living costs, housing insecurity, and limited access to basic essentials. These challenges impact children’s health, wellbeing, and education, and prevent adults from building safe and stable lives for themselves and their families. The West Midlands Multibank aims to support as many people as possible by redistributing surplus goods and donated items from businesses via a network of community-based partners across the region. We have begun working with a number of organisations across the voluntary and public sectors, and look forward to extending our reach to even more groups and communities. We also welcome partnerships with local businesses that may be able to donate useful items such as bedding, clothing, hygiene products, and household goods.
