Helping out just got easier: New online volunteering platform launches in Birmingham A new era of community action is launching this week with Volunteer Brum, a brand-new platform designed to connect local people with meaningful volunteering opportunities across Birmingham. Bringing communities together, one click at a time The easy-to-use platform enables good causes and charities to advertise their current roles, while people who want to get involved in their community can browse and sign up for opportunities that match their interests, skills, and availability. Whether it’s helping at a local food bank, mentoring young people, or supporting arts and culture events, there’s something for everyone. A game-changer for volunteering in Birmingham “This is a big step forward for how volunteering happens in Birmingham,” said Becky Isaac, Vision for Volunteering Implementation Manager at BVSC. “We’re making it easier than ever for people to get involved and give back to their communities. The platform has the potential to create real, lasting impact city-wide.” Shammie Robshaw-Bryan of Reengage said “I signed up to the new Volunteer Brum platform and I’m over the moon with the process. It was easy to add colleagues to admin in my absence and very easy to add volunteering roles. Adding an automatic response was easy too, so anyone applying instantly gets an automatic thank you and a summary of next steps. What's even better is we had a volunteer sign up within 42 hours of our roles being accepted! “As a charity run only thanks to volunteers to keep our services free, it was imperative we have a good volunteering platform across Birmingham, so we were exceptionally pleased to have Volunteer Brum, which is user friendly in terms of adding roles and accepting applications." For over 10 years, Jane has been bringing joy and connection to older people at the New Inn in Harborne, helping to combat loneliness and build lasting friendships. Key features of the platform: Searchable listings: Filter opportunities by location, interest area, or time commitment. For everyone: Open to individuals, students, professionals, retirees - anyone who wants to make a difference. Support for organisations: A streamlined system for charities and non-profits to reach new volunteers. Let’s build a stronger Birmingham - together Birmingham has always been a city known for its big heart. This new platform offers a digital home for that spirit to thrive, ensuring more people can find fulfilling ways to contribute.
