West Midlands Multibank Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region face some of the highest levels of child poverty in the country. In Birmingham alone, over 40% of children are living in poverty. Across the region, individuals and families are experiencing hardship, with increasing pressures from rising living costs, housing insecurity, and limited access to basic essentials. These challenges impact children’s health, wellbeing, and education, and prevent adults from building safe and stable lives for themselves and their families. The West Midlands Multibank aims to support as many people as possible by redistributing surplus goods and donated items from businesses via a network of community-based partners across the region. We have begun working with a number of organisations across the voluntary and public sectors, and look forward to extending our reach to even more groups and communities. We also welcome partnerships with local businesses that may be able to donate useful items such as bedding, clothing, hygiene products, and household goods. We Donate Campaign to Support Families Through the West Midlands Multibank The West Midlands Multibank is set to benefit from the latest You Buy. We Donate campaign, which has now expanded into sports and activewear for the first time. The initiative aims to help families across the region access the sports clothing and equipment they need ahead of a busy summer of sport. As one of the Multibank network locations, the West Midlands Multibank will receive donated sports and activewear items that will be distributed to local families experiencing financial hardship. The campaign aims to generate over 50,000 donations nationally, with a significant portion supporting communities here in the West Midlands. How the Campaign Works Until 4 June, for every three eligible sports products purchased on Amazon.co.uk, one of Amazon’s supplier partners will donate an equivalent item to the Multibank network - including the West Midlands Multibank. Purchases do not need to be made in the same order; any three qualifying items bought across separate baskets will count towards a donation. Pentland Announced as Flagship Supporter Pentland is leading the campaign as the flagship supporter, contributing across its full catalogue. This includes sports and activewear from brands such as Mitre, Speedo, Berghaus, Canterbury, and Endura. Thousands of items are included across categories such as football, rugby, swimming, cycling, and hiking; all of which will help families supported by the West Midlands Multibank. Additional support from Kickers and Vans will help broaden the range of footwear and lifestyle products available to local families. Part of a National Awareness Drive Fronted by Sir Gareth Southgate, the campaign has already received significant media coverage, including features in the Independent, The Standard, ITV News, Mail Online and LBC.
