RNIB would love to hear your thoughts on how we look and sound

Primary Eyecare Survey

RNIB wants to find out if blind and partially sighted people, as well as the public, know about community eyecare services (like GPs, high street opticians, and other local eyecare options).  They also want to understand how these services can help people before, during, and after an eye diagnosis.

The NHS 10-year plan means more eye health services will be delivered by opticians and other community providers.

We are gathering views to understand what services you currently access via your optician and how you’d feel about accessing more services there in future. Even if you never visit your opticians, we want you to tell us why.

Your feedback will help inform wider conversations about the future of eyecare — including discussions with the NHS.

Would you use your optician for more of your eyecare treatment?

We’re running a survey for everyone in the UK aged over 16. Whilst we are particularly interested in the experiences of those with sight loss, you don’t have to have sight loss to take part.

Was your eye condition diagnosed within the last two years?

If so, we’d love you to join our discussion groups and tell us more about your experiences of community eyecare, for example high street Opticians. Participants must be living in England and aged 18+.

If you are living with sight loss in the UK, we'd love your help here at RNIB.

We're making some improvements to our brand, and we want to make sure the changes we make work for people with lived experience of sight loss. Your feedback will help us make the right changes to how we look and sound.

Who can take part?

·        Anyone aged 18 or older living in England.

·        People who use eye services in the community..

·        Professionals such as optometrists, ophthalmologists, nurses, etc. (these professionals may be invited for in-depth interviews based on their survey responses).

Primary Eyecare Discussion Group

RNIB also has a few places left on a discussion group scheduled for November 2025.  The group is for people who have been diagnosed with an eye condition within the last two years.  Anyone interested needs to complete the sign up form.  Again, I’m happy to help with this.

RNIB Brand

RNIB wants feedback from blind and partially sighted people who use technology about proposed changes to its brand (how RNIB looks and sounds).  Your feedback will help them to decide on these changes.

If you’re selected, you’ll be invited to a Microsoft Teams call in November 2025 to learn more about the task. Support is available to help you fill out the expression of interest form.
