WMCA is a group of local authorities working together to make the West Midlands a better place to live. The government gives combined authorities the money and power to make decisions for their regions. This is called devolution. It means that decisions are made by people who know their region best. They work on issues such as travel, housing, green space, employment and education, inclusion, health and climate change.

West Midlands Multibank Reaches One Million Milestone to Help Families in Need

One million essential items have been distributed to families in need across the region through the West Midlands Multibank since the project was launched just over a year ago. The milestone was celebrated by BVSC, who oversee the West Midlands Multibank alongside funders Comic Relief and Sport Relief. The West Midlands Multibank receives donations from businesses such as Amazon to distribute to a network of over 200 community partners who then distribute them to families most in need.
CYP Preventative and Early Mental & Emotional Help - External Stakeholders Engagement

Early Help Mental Health Services provide voluntary, preventative support for children, young people, and families facing challenges to prevent future escalations into secondary care mental health services. The way our young people want to access support, and their needs have changed a lot over the last 10 years. We are reviewing our services to ensure we deliver them effectively and to check if our current delivery model meeting patient needs.

The service will include contributions from clergy, community leaders, and the Birmingham Windrush Celebration Legacy Choir.

Outside of the Birmingham City Area?

If your organisation delivers outside of the Birmingham City Area you can get support from BVSC’s equivalent ‘sibling’ organisations such as Councils for Voluntary Service (CVS) or other similar VCFSE ‘infrastructure’/ ‘member’ organisations covering your area of operation.
NCVO (National Council of Voluntary Organisations):

NCVO is the membership community for charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in England.
NAVCA (National Association for Voluntary and Community Action):

NAVCA is the national membership body for local infrastructure organisations supporting the voluntary and community sector.
Locality:

Locality is the national membership network supporting local community organisations to be strong and successful.
Warm Welcome Spaces:

BVSC and VCFSE organisations across the City are working with Birmingham City Council, Thrive Together Birmingham and other partners to support Warm Welcome Spaces all year round.
Neighbourhood Network Schemes (NNS):

NNS aim to help older adults and adults with disabilities to lead healthy, happy and independent lives in their own homes and communities.
East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Programme:

The East Birmingham Inclusive Growth Programme is a 20-year initiative to bring investment into the area and create strong links between the council and the community.
Early Help:

The Early Help System is a way for all families, children and young people to engage in early conversations about what help and support they may need in every aspect of their lives.
BIDs (Business Improvement Districts):

Public-private partnerships in which businesses within a defined area of the city pay an additional levy to fund improvements to the local area.
Birmingham & Solihull ICS (Integrated Care System) Locality Partnerships:

Birmingham and Solihull ICS (Integrated Care System) brings together local NHS, Councils and Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector to design and deliver Health and Social Care services in Birmingham and Solihull.
