Trustee Recruitment - What We’re Looking For: Along with the core requirements of being a Trustee, we are particularly interested in individuals with experience in: •Safeguarding •Communications/Marketing •Fundraising •Education

As a charity with a strong history rooted in the locality of Balsall Heath and beyond, we have been working with communities and partners to enable a truly responsive and agile offer, for nearly 50 years. Our new Strategic Plan 2024-2027 sets out a revised Vision ‘A fairer and brighter future for the communities' and is supported by a 3 year action plan.
Our life-long support, from our nursery provision, childcare, to supporting the 0-19 agenda and family hubs, to our education settings that support young people across the city, our city farm and community hubs that support local networks and vulnerable adults on a range of foci, provides the platform to enable us to achieve our Vision and Mission ‘Nurturing lifelong opportunities that leave a lasting impact by working together and investing in initiatives’.
As we continue to grow and make an impact in our community, we're looking to expand our Board of Trustees and bring on fresh, diverse perspectives.

What We’re Looking For:
Along with the core requirements of being a Trustee, we are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:

• Fundraising
• Education

If you have expertise in these areas, your skills and knowledge will play a key role in guiding our strategy and strengthening our ability to serve our community.

Time Commitment:
The role of a Trustee is a voluntary position, requiring attendance at bi monthly meetings, usually no more than 7 per year, and a willingness to contribute additional time and expertise as needed.

West Midlands Multibank Reaches One Million Milestone to Help Families in Need

One million essential items have been distributed to families in need across the region through the West Midlands Multibank since the project was launched just over a year ago. The milestone was celebrated by BVSC, who oversee the West Midlands Multibank alongside funders Comic Relief and Sport Relief. The West Midlands Multibank receives donations from businesses such as Amazon to distribute to a network of over 200 community partners who then distribute them to families most in need.
CYP Preventative and Early Mental & Emotional Help - External Stakeholders Engagement

Early Help Mental Health Services provide voluntary, preventative support for children, young people, and families facing challenges to prevent future escalations into secondary care mental health services. The way our young people want to access support, and their needs have changed a lot over the last 10 years. We are reviewing our services to ensure we deliver them effectively and to check if our current delivery model meeting patient needs.
Letters, Promises and Belonging: The Children Of Windrush
Birmingham Windrush Service of Commemoration, Thanksgiving and Celebration

The service will include contributions from clergy, community leaders, and the Birmingham Windrush Celebration Legacy Choir.

Improving Access for Black Men (IABM)

Green Care for You: a fortnight of simple nature activities for unpaid carers

Unpaid carers are invited to join a free fortnight of simple gardening and nature activities this summer from Carers UK and Thrive. Green Care for You is a gentle two-week programme designed to help unpaid carers, looking after a family member or friend who is older, disabled or has a long-term health condition, enjoy the benefits of gardening and nature in a way that fits around their caring role.

Birmingham Hospice’s retail collaboration with Birmingham City University

Birmingham Hospice’s Reloved Brum charity superstore in Harborne is proudly supporting the national Mend It May campaign in partnership with Birmingham City University (BCU). Mend it May, an initiative from Sustainable Fashion Week, encourages people to repair and reimagine their clothing, helping to reduce waste and challenge the culture of fast fashion.

Sandwell Advocacy’s Sandwell Together is a telephone befriending service supporting local people facing loneliness and isolation through meaningful connection. We are looking for people 18years old or over, with kindness, empathy and good listening skills who would like to make a real difference to the lives of others, for a commitment of six months.
