Our commitment is rooted in understanding the unique challenges faced by our senior community and providing the necessary support. At Witton Lodge, we believe that age should never be an obstacle to living a fulfilling and connected life. We offer a diverse range of free services and health and wellbeing activities across our Erdington hubs aimed at promoting independence and social engagement among older adults. These activities not only promote physical health but also foster social connections and mental stimulation. We offer walking groups, Tai Chi, chess club, yoga, stress and relaxation sessions alongside our popular gardening club. We also deliver the Erdington Neighbourhood Network Scheme which has made significant strides in improving the lives of our older residents to live more connected and independent lives. This International Older Persons Day 2024, Witton Lodge Community Association is proud to highlight our expert Energy Advice Service, which plays a vital role in supporting our older residents across the Erdington constituency. In light of the ongoing cost-of-living crisis and increasing price-caps, this service has become increasingly essential for those facing challenges with energy bills and home efficiency. Our Energy Advice Service is designed to effectively provide older adults with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their energy consumption effectively and stay warm and healthy during the winter months. Our team of expert energy advisors are dedicated to helping older residents navigate the complexities of energy use and costs. They provide valuable support including understanding energy bills, dealing with debt issues, changing providers as well as ensuring they have access to energy saving products including window film, radiator foil, LED lightbulbs, draught excluders and more. Through our partnership with BrumEnergy and Birmingham Community Action Network (B:CAN), we have secured funding through the Energy Redress Scheme to provide a range of services tailored specifically for our community. Energy Cafés These informal drop-in sessions provide a welcoming environment where residents can receive personalised advice from our expert energy advisors. Here, they can discuss their specific energy concerns and learn about available support options. Face-to-Face Appointments For those in need of more in-depth support we offer one-to-one consultations where residents can meet with our energy advisors to discuss their energy needs in detail and receive tailored advice. Home Assessment Visits Our community advisors conduct home visits to assess residents’ energy efficiency, offering practical tips on how to reduce consumption and lower bills. This service is particularly beneficial for older residents who may struggle with the physical demands of managing their homes. Telephone Advice Calls We understand that not everyone can visit in person, so we also offer telephone consultations, ensure that advice is accessible to all.
